The sunshine award is given by bloggers to other bloggers who are inspiring, positive, and creative.  I am extremely honored to receive this and to pass it onto other inspirational bloggers.

 1. When and why did you start your blog?

I launched my blog on September 18th, 2017.  My blog is inspired by our house.  When we moved in, it was in desperate need of some love.  Yet when I looked at it, I always saw the way it could be.  I would joke and say I needed to put a sign in the yard that said….soon to be charming.   It just looked so sad on the outside and I wanted people to see it the way I did.  I love taking pictures and documenting projects, so a blog was the perfect fit.

 2. Tell us a story from your first love.

My first and only love is my husband of 13 years. Before we were dating, I wasn’t quite convinced he was “the one,” so I marched up the counter and quickly paid for my coffee (which didn’t make him very happy).  If I paid, I figured it wouldn’t be considered a date.  His charm soon won me over, but to this day, he still teases me about marching up and paying for my own coffee.

3. What is your dream house?

My dream house is anywhere my family is.  It might have a cute breakfast nook and a master bath attached, but it definitely wouldn’t be perfect.  It is more about the memories.  I’m type A….if everything was perfect I would be so stressed trying to keep it that way, I wouldn’t be able to live in it.

 4. How did you settle on the niche or aesthetic of your blog?

Soon to be Charming is just that….a process.  My house is far from perfect, but I love it!  Maybe not the shag brown carpet, with missing spots….but it takes time.  We get so wrapped up into these immediate makeovers, it is easy to get frustrated when everything can’t get done at once.  I want to find joy in the process and inspire others to do the same.

5. What is your college Alma Mater, your degree, and your career?

I attended Cedarville University and received a BA in Business Marketing.  I worked for several years in the mortgage industry.  Then after having my son 9 years ago, I left my job to stay home and raise my kids.

 6. What is your passion? The one activity that you eat, sleep, and breathe.

All things DIY!  There isn’t a day that goes by where I’m not thinking about a project or starring at a wall wondering what I could put there.  I absolutely love projects, planning them, working on them and trying new things.

 7. What TV shows are you watching right now or what do you binge on Netflix?

I know it is a little early, but I started watching Hallmark Christmas Movies on Netflix.  I totally love sappy chic flicks.

 8. Do you have a family/relationship/kids/fur babies?

I have been married to my husband for 13 years and have three kids Grady 9, Alyssa 7 and Lauryn 4.  We also have two cats Ramsey and Lucy.

9. What are the first 3 things you would grab from a house fire?

Besides getting my family and cats out safely, the three things I would grab are 1- Bible 2- the box of home videos/pictures/wedding album 3- legal documents (all of which should be in a fireproof safe…whoops!)

10. What are the top 5 most played songs on your playlists?

A playlist?  The music I listen to now is Kids Bop thanks to my precious kiddos….I could probably sing every song to Moana and Descendants 2!

11. Tell us about the happiest moment thus far in your life?

The day I became saved.  Romans 10: 9-10 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
