4 Tips To Decorate Your Fall Porch On A Budget
I am sure I have said it many times, but I need to say it again…fall is my favorite time of year!! The colors are so bright and the weather makes you want to curl up with a warm cup of coffee. I also love the way fall porches are lined with pumpkins and mums galore. I wish I had an endless budget for fall decorations, but I don’t. So if you love to decorate for fall like I do, here are 4 great tips to help you stay on budget, while still having a gorgeous fall porch!
TIP 1: SAVE IF YOU CAN
Year after year I would buy straw bales to add to my front porch. I finally decided to find a clean dry place to store the straw, now I just pull it down from my shelf and I am ready to go. Money saved because I don’t have to go buy another bale and I still get the porch decor I want… win, win! The straw bale I currently use I have had for 4 years now and it still looks great.
I made a fall wreath last year and was able to re-use it also! CLICK HERE TO SEE MY DIY FALL WREATH
TIP 2: GROW IT IF YOU CAN
The corn stalks I used this year came from my garden! I wanted to grow corn, first of all, to have corn on the cob (which didn’t happen because my corn was invaded by earwigs) and secondly, for decor. I knew it would save me money if I didn’t have to go buy corn stalks when I was ready to decorate my porch.
TIP 3: BE CREATIVE
I love the look of plaid blankets and pillows on the front porch. However, I didn’t want to spend $20. So instead of busting my budget, I headed to the fabric store, bought a yard of fabric with a coupon and bingo….I had plaid to add to my porch!
TIP 4: BE RESOURCEFUL
Look around your house for items that would look great on your porch. Lanterns, signs, crates, or baskets all look great. Consider what colors scheme you like, not sure? It can make an object look brand new and if you use a bright color, it will pop next to your orange pumpkins or burgundy mums. A beautiful front porch doesn’t have to cost a lot, most of us have plenty of things laying around the house that would be perfect to use!
When I pull up to my house, I see a cozy front porch that reminds me of fall. Your porch is a great way to express your personality! It should be unique, just like you.
To top off my fall decor, I picked up some beautiful plants to add color to my back deck! Here is what I added: Purple fountain grass, red mum, sweet potato vine (left from my summer planters), heuchera and ornamental cabbage.
Need a great hanging shade plant? Look at my hanging pots of Wandering Jew! I bought them in May and they still look like the day I bought them almost 5 months later! I will definitely be buying these hanging pots again.
I hope these tips inspire you to have fun and not break your budget at the same time. Happy decorating and thanks for checking out my post!

Donna, wrapping it with a trash bag is a great idea! Yes, I do love having all four seasons here in Michigan…but you can definitely get the feel with great fall decor inside! Thanks for the comment!
I love your flower arrangement! And I never thought about saving my straw bales for next year. What a great idea!
Thanks Emily! I know…I used to throw my straw bales out every year too…but they really keep well if you have a place to store them!
