How To Make A Christmas Fruit Tree
Admitting it is the first step, yes, I love Christmas decorations. I may go over the top sometimes, for instance, I like my wrapping paper to match my Christmas décor and when I decorate a table, I like even the candy wrappers to match the centerpiece. Yet, what you love shouldn’t cause you more stress. Over the last couple years I have made a big effort to try and stay organized around the holidays (check out my Holiday Checklist). Staying organized allows me to do all the little things I like doing, but in a way I can enjoy them. Sometimes that means giving something up and keeping it simple. However, the best part is simple doesn’t have to be boring! Here is how to make this gorgeous and delicious Christmas Fruit Tree! It’s easier than you think!
Making Your Christmas Fruit Tree
The base is made from a pineapple. The first time I made this Christmas fruit tree I used just a pineapple and pear for the structure, but last year the pear was a little too small. To bridge the pineapple and pear, I added an apple and it worked perfectly.
To keep the base fruit together, I used cake pop sticks to act like a dowel.
For the topper, leave one slice of pineapple and use a star shaped cookie cutter. I happened to loose my star shaped cookie cutter (I used it for the last Christmas fruit tree and never put it back!), so I simply sketched a star out and cut it out with a knife. I still think a cookie cutter works better, but a knife is a great second option!
Adding The Fruit
When choosing fruit, I would just say to avoid any fruit that browns. I choose mandarin oranges, red and green grapes, raspberries and blackberries. Kiwi and green melon (or cantaloupe) are other great options.
Grab some toothpicks and start adding your fruit.
Adding fruit for your Christmas fruit tree is not rocket science, but here are a few things we kept in mind. Try to fit the fruit as close as possible. I also tried to make the colors consistent and spread out around the tree and lastly find some kiddos to help! My girls had so much fun helping.
Almost done!
Fruit Tree Complete!
At the bottom, I added some extra fruit to fill in the dish.
A Simple and Delicious Christmas Fruit Tree
Keeping things simple for the holidays doesn’t mean you can’t make something beautiful! I hope this inspires you to have a little fun with your food this holiday season. Put a little Christmas music on, grab your kids and enjoy building a fruit tree!
