No Sew Curtains: Change Your Look For the Holiday’s

In our home, we have a beautiful little breakfast nook. It has a ton of potential. I am hoping next year that we can replace all the windows, and eventually we want to have a built in bench added. Those projects are a little ways out though, so for now a valance will just have to do.
For some reason, I never have much luck finding the “perfect” valance. After looking at several stores and online, I often end up at the fabric store. Normally, I am not looking for anything too specific. When I see the fabric, I will just know. That’s just what happened, I came across this Birdwatcher Meadow Fabric and fell in love.
I measured the windows beforehand and bought enough fabric to cover them with 4 simple no sew panels.
To attach the panels to the curtain rod, I bought clip rings.
The instant I fell in love with the birdwatcher fabric, I knew I would need to replace it with something around Christmas time. The birds wouldn’t match any of my Christmas decor. However, I am so glad that didn’t stop me from buying the fabric I loved. These panels are so simple, to take them down you just undo the clips. It takes less than 5 minutes.
To make panels for Christmas, I found a beautiful red plaid from Waverly fabric, called Pantry Plaid. If you haven’t made a curtain panel before, I will walk you through the simple steps below.
Making a Panel
To make the panels, you will need Stitch Witchery or some kind of bonding tape.
To start, unroll the bonding tape and cut to the length you need.
Fold the edge over just a little.
Then fold it one more time onto the bonding tape. Continue holding it down on the bonding tape until you apply heat with an iron. The iron will need to stay on each section for 20-30 seconds. I also had to iron the material on both sides to ensure the tape bonded. For the best results, follow the specific instructions on the package of the bonding tape you buy.
Below you can see I finished the trim. With plaid it was easy to follow a straight line to ensure the panel looked even. With the Birdwatcher fabric, it was a little harder. Just keep that in mind when you pick out fabric.
This will be the third Christmas I have pulled the curtains out of storage, and they still look great! The edges are still fastened tight.
They just need to be pressed off and within minutes I have them up. It completely changes the entire look of the kitchen and I love it.
Later in the month I will post a Christmas house tour, so for now….enjoy a sneak peek at my Holiday curtains! It gives you a fun and fresh new look, and it is so easy to do. Thanks for checking it out.
