Organizing Summer Projects and Activities 2021
This post has been updated! Originally I posted this in March 2020 and well, yup everyone’s plans were put on hold because of Covid. Fast forward a year and here we are. Things are starting to fill up on the calendar and if you are like us, you may have big house projects planned for the summer. I found myself needing the summer organizing calendar! I like the 3 month view to write everything out. Plus it is handy to mark down when items are coming in, because if you have tried ordering anything for house projects right now…you know it takes a while to get everything in! So let’s get started organizing summer projects and activities!
Organizing Summer Projects and Activities
Here is the new 2021 updated summer calendar! It goes perfectly with my home projects binder too, which I’ll show you in a minute!
How To Get The Most Out Of The Calendar?
1. List Your Projects and Activities
Start by listing any vacations or fun activities you want to do this summer. Try to mark down the exact dates, if you are still unsure of when you are going…just list it in the notes box on the right hand side for now. Having it listed in your notes box, will help remind you to get a date nailed down. Once you figure out the dates, then write it onto the calendar.
Keep these activities to things you would need to plan for in advance. Going to a theme park, camping, day trips…things like that.
2. List Your Home Projects
Let’s be honest, the amount of things we “intend” to get done is normally not that practical! Well at least that is what my husband keeps telling me. So decide what home projects you would like to do and what month you would like to finish them. This is where I love my home projects binder! It helps me list all the projects that we want or need to do. It gives me a spot to keep estimates and lastly, it helps me to be more realistic about what can actually get done in a summer. If you don’t have any big house projects, you could always focus on one smaller project each month…you know those little projects that you never get to! Try to complete one each month of the summer.
3. Figure Out The Cost
Now it is time to think about money! While you are figuring out your plans, you will also want to research cost. Write down how much your vacation or activities might cost and do the same for your home projects. Figuring out the costs, will help you spread out the projects if needed, or cut activities if your projects are the priority. If you like to stick to a budget, you can set a max budget for each month, or have one for the entire summer. Either way, to figure out what projects and activities you can do during the summer, it is important to figure out all your expenses or at least estimates.
Home Project Guide to go with Organizing Summer Projects and Activities
I added my summer planning calendar right into my home project binder! This Home Project Guide is another free packet I offer to all my subscribers! I recently updated this packet as well and it is so helpful! I even hauled it into Menards the other day. It is a great way to keep projects organized and since we are in the process of planning about 4 huge house projects right now…coffee and my project binder help keep me sane!
Another printable I use all the time is the project planner budget sheet. We print one out for every project and track expenses or research estimates so we know what the project will cost. It is also a great way to itemize all the items you’ll need for the project, which eliminates unexpected costs. If you sign up for the summer planning calendar, you’ll have access to this printable in the Soon To Be Charming Printable Library.
I think this calendar is incredibly helpful for organizing summer projects and activities! I have a calendar in my phone and I have a happy planner…so why print off this calendar. Sometimes you just need a calendar to hash things out on and that is exactly what this calendar is for! It is the perfect calendar to move things around, figure out your projects along with your vacations. It will allow you see all 3 months in one glance and help determine what you want to make time for this summer!
Thanks so much for checking out my post.
