Memorial Day: Food and Entertaining with Ease
Nothing shines brighter than the patriotic colors of red, white and blue flying in the summer sky. Memorial Day is the beautiful combination of tribute and festivities. Enjoying life and yet remembering the sacrifice so many gave. Click here to read more about the history of Memorial Day
Gathering with friends and family to celebrate Memorial day also means planning food, decorations and more for the host or hostess. Here are some great ideas for food and serving to help make the day simple, so you can enjoy it as well!
Food and Entertaining Ideas
Freckled Drink Bar
Nothing quenches your thirst like an ice cold lemonade. What I love about a lemonade bar is how easy it is for the kids to serve themselves. They can easily fill their cups up with you having to worry about spills. Plus they love freckling their drink with strawberries or blueberries and adding a flavoring.

I love using festive paper straws and cups with lids. It is convenient for the kids and beneficial to have your drink covered, especially if you are sitting outside!
Entertaining with Ease
Whether you grill out, have barbecue, or corn on the cob. Making everything accessible and easy to eat, will allow everything to run smoother. Here are some great products for serving food on Memorial Day.
Serving Baskets are perfect for outdoor cookouts. Perfect for kids, but handy for adults as well. Pile everything in and walk around the yard or chat in a lawn chair.
Don’t forget the wax paper serving wraps if you have baskets.
I used these red, white and blue plates from Party City last year. They were sturdy and large enough to fit brats, corn, chips and more.
Tiers allow you to fit everything in a smaller space. Add some festive garland and your table will look beautiful as well as delicious!
Disposable corn on the cob holders! Don’t worry about losing all of your corn holders. Eat and toss, this takes one more thing off your mind!
Here is a buffet decorating kit from Party City. This would be perfect for a hot dog and burger bar!
Dessert Ideas
After a fun warm afternoon, nothing tops fresh strawberry shortcake and root beer floats. These are two delicious but simple desserts to serve. Prepare everything ahead of time such as cutting up the strawberries and making the shortcake, then when it is time, just put them together.
Keep It Simple
I love all the little details too, but remember to keep it simple so it doesn’t become overwhelming. If you can’t pass on all the cute printables and decorations…just make sure to work on them way ahead of time. This will allow you to have everything you want, but without the stress.
Look out for more ideas on Memorial Day entertaining in the next few weeks!
