Simple Memo Board DIY
In the girls bedroom, there is never enough space to hang all the pictures or special notes they want to keep. It seems like they are always taping things to the wall. I figured there had to be a better solution. Creating a simple DIY memo board was it! I looked around our house and found a few things to make exactly what we needed! The best part is, a memo board is perfect for any room, even use it in the kitchen or mudroom for yourself!
Let’s just check out how simple it really is!
Creating A Memo Board
I had some leftover canvas laying around. I had already mod podged scrapbook paper onto them a long time ago and they were just sitting around. Time to repurpose. I grabbed two canvas that were a light green color and would match in the girls room.
Next, I found some nails and hanging wire.
I flipped the canvas over and used the hammer to put some nails into the wooden frame.
I spaced the nails out around the entire frame.
Adding Wire
I used plain hanging wire because that is what I had, however, you could use copper wire or something a little nicer if you wanted. You could even use string or twine.
I wrapped the wire around one of the nails on the back, then pulled it tightly around the front, across the canvas and to another nail on the opposite side. Wind it a few times around the nail, then pull it back across. Make the wire go all different directions or simply straight across. The choice is totally up to you!
To give it a little extra, I used cup hooks that screwed right into the wooden frame on the bottom. Since it is a pretty small memo board, having a little extra hanging space will come in handy!
To complete the memo board, I added small clothespins. I think I am going to have the girls decorate their clothespins, but I haven’t mentioned it to them yet…maybe they can decorate those next week!
I realize I had a little head start with the canvases already being covered with scrapbook paper, but altogether it took me about 10 minutes to make 2 memo boards! It doesn’t get much easier than that. It hangs on the wall right at the end of my daughter’s desk and works great! She loves putting up kitty pictures and hanging things on the hooks. It was definitely a simple DIY memo board!
