Date Ideas For Valentine’s Day
I love Valentine’s day for so many different reasons. Getting special treats for the kids, decorating your home with hearts…and of course, it is the perfect time to share a romantic day with your loved one. Date ideas for Valentine’s day can be difficult.
My hubby and I are not what you would call foodies…so finding that fancy restaurant is not on the top of our to do list. Don’t get me wrong, we do enjoy dressing up and having a nice meal…but sometimes we like to add a little more adventure into our Valentine’s day date. So here are a few date ideas for Valentine’s Day that we have loved over the years. Dates that get you out of the normal routine.
Date Ideas For Valentine’s Day
Ice Skating
On Valentine’s Day, one of the local ice rinks changes the color of the ice to pink! Skating around on pink ice is really fun, not to mention festive. Skating is an activity that works great if you are taking someone out for the first time or if you have been married for several years. Ice skating makes for great memories and a fun date.
Pizza and Pottery
Restaurants can be really busy on Valentine’s Day, so to find a quiet place, consider pizza and pottery. Pre-order pizza from one of your favorite restaurants, and take it to go. Call ahead to the pottery place (earlier in the week) to make sure they are open and secondly to make sure you can bring in outside food.
If they allow outside food, you can bring your own dessert and drinks to eat too! It will be much quieter than a busy restaurant, giving you space and a great atmosphere to talk.
This was an incredibly fun date and painting the pottery or in our case, coffee mugs, took a while. The beauty of this is we didn’t feel like we were sitting around asking, “what else do we do?” Yes, once you have been married for a while, occasionally you do forget what to do when the kids aren’t tugging on your clothes saying Mom, Mom, MOM!
Plus, you have a keepsake from your valentines date. Or better yet, if you are on a first date…you have the perfect excuse to get together again to pick up the pottery.
Outdoor Activities
Last year we went skiing! I totally understand getting outside in the crisp air is not for everyone, but if you plan ahead and dress warm, consider this option! It is fun to go skiing or if that is not an option, consider a romantic candle lit trail at a local nature park.
Snow falling gently on a cold winter’s night can be so beautiful. Then afterwards snuggle up with a warm cup of coffee or hot cocoa.
Hit Local Events
Another great date idea is to look up local events in your area. Something you can’t do everyday. In our downtown area, they often have ice sculptures placed all around town. Most are within walking distance of each other and can make for a fun date night. Just make sure to let your date know the plan (if it’s not your spouse), because if a lot of walking is required or you’ll be outside for long periods of time…your date will need to dress appropriately.
End Valentine’s Day With Dessert!
Chocolate Chip Cookies
It’s about time we finally talked about something sweet! We love chocolate chip cookies in our household and what better way to end Valentine’s Day than with a heart shaped chocolate chip cookie.
Add ice cream and hot fudge onto your heart shaped cookie (minus the frosting) to make it even more delicious!
Cookies are the perfect sweet treat to end your night.
